How to build a height adjustable sit/stand computer desk?
I am looking at building myself a computer desk that has some sort of mechanism that allows me to adjust it's height so that I can either sit or stand while working on my PC. I am looking for a solution which allows me to adjust the desk without having to move pins around or have two people involved in the process.

In terms of alternatives to adjust the height, the ones I came up with are either a gas lift or a pulley mechanism. I can't find either of these parts online that I could mount on a desk.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could get started with this project? Has anyone out there made one like this already and can share the plans?

Here are some examples of what I am looking at to give a better explanation:

Why not get a 'drafting' chair? These chairs will adjust in height to let you sit comfortably sit at your higher desk.
Why not just make a desk at standing working height and get an adjustable chair with integral footrest that reaches. Most electronic workshops are kitted out that way.
How about a hydraulic pump? like in the ancient dental chairs?
Or perhaps you could buy a used hospital bed?
Sorry if I am thinking out of the box a little but my idea is to find a used (or new) electric chair, the kind that helps the elderly stand up.

I would take those mechanics out of the chair and install a computer desk to them.

I like this idea because it would be extremely strong, versatile (height adjusting) and push button or remote controlled.
I like the idea of the tall desk and the height adjustable chair, as much as the pneumatic chairs.

Certainly the mechanisms of pneumatic chairs might be offered in a pre-production form, that you could adapt to a desk, but would still involve operating the mechanisms at different points at the same time, or modifying multiples to be singularly functional. The intent should be the stability of any table/desk, with less worry about a chair specifically designed.

Seeing the desk mechanisms as more tedious and complicated to construct, I'd probably go with the tall chair, allowing the desk to remain at a comfortable standing height.

Obviously the alternatives could be holes/pins, and manual adjusting.

Completely off topic, but you nudged me. Front load Washers and Dryers this year, are finally being offered with Pedestal stands, to raise their height.
