The distance around Regina's rectangular desk is 66 inches. The length of the desk is 3 inches more than the width. What are the length and width of Regina's desk?

L + W = 33

L = W + 3

W+3 + W = 33
2 W =30
W = 15
L = 18

66=w+w+w+3+w+3=4w+6
w=15
l=w+3
l=18
P = 2(L + W), let W=x, so L = x+3

66 = 2(x + x + 3) = 2(2x + 3)

33 = 2x + 3

30 = 2x, so x + 15. W = 15

L = x + 3 = 15 + 3 = 18

Must be a lap desk.
