Best UPS backup for laptop in a healthcare environment?
Laptops on mobile carts need a lighter weight UPS than those traditionally included in mobile computing carts. Has anyone researched an alternate lighter weight solution for a laptop that is basically on 24/7?

Laptops have built in UPS known as internal batteries.
If that's not enough capacity, look into an external lithium ion battery pack such as these: http://www.batt… Lithium Ion batteries are the light battery, only a fraction of the weight of lead-acid batteries typically used for UPS duty.
The question really boils down to how many hours do you need to run the laptop without AC power. 2-4 hours is reasonable on an internal battery, 8-12 is possible by adding the external battery pack.
It still will need periodic recharging, of course.
