In traveling how can I transfer mp3's to other media such as an external HD without carting my lapt
I want to record several days of presentations that will be broadcast over FM and at the end of the day download to a hard drive or other media for safekeeping so the mp3 player is empty & available for the next day. I don't want to take my laptop with me.
I have an external HD but there is no USB connection to it, only a firewire(from) usb(to) connection for the cable that plugs into my computer.

Unfortunately I believe you need the laptop as a middle man between the recording device and the external hard drive.
It really depends on your hardware. There are many Bluetooth devices that could do this. You could also use a PDA or Blackberry as an intermediary. I think Mac also makes an external HD for the Ipod that doesn't require an intermediary.
