How do I protect my executive desk top from scratches?
I just bought a large new desk and want to protect the desk top from scratches and stuff. I looked at buying glass from different vendors and it seems very expensive..does home depot have a glass making department?

Also are there any other alternatives to protect the desk top?

It would be worth spending the money for glass on your desk.It will last forever.
Plexi-glass would also work but it tends to get scratched over time and is also quite expensive.
I would spend the extra money and get the glass.
If you do not wish to spend the money on glass, which is the best answer, go to Home Depot and get a 1/4" sheet of lexan. It is a very hard, clear plastic. This is the plastic they use in hockey glass!!

When it gets all scratched, fogged over from contiuous washing, coffee stains, deep scratches and gouges, just cut it with a circular saw, into small pieces, throw it out, and get a new piece. Because it is so hard, it will resist scratching better than normal plastic sheeting. it also withstands stains better, as well! It is cheaper than a sheet of glass.
look at some 2nd hand stores ,lots of times there is glass and it is a simple chore for a glass cutter to cut and re edge it
